Midnight Madness Reminder: E-Bikes & Motorized Scooters

We’re looking forward to welcoming our community to Kearney High School tonight for the 2026 Midnight Madness and the unofficial kickoff to another great season of Bulldog football! As families and students make their plans for tonight, we want to share an important safety reminder about electric bikes, motor scooters and similar motorized devices on Kearney School District property.
Students are welcome to use appropriate transportation to get to the event, but e-bikes, motorized scooters and similar devices should be parked once students arrive on campus. They should not be ridden around the KHS campus or athletic facilities during Midnight Madness.
With a large crowd of students, families and community members expected tonight, riding these devices through parking areas, sidewalks, walking paths, athletic areas or other pedestrian spaces creates an unnecessary safety risk.
As a reminder, City of Kearney ordinances also prohibit riding motorized devices on sidewalks and trails and restrict their use by unlicensed riders on public streets.
Please take a moment to talk with your child about these expectations if they have access to an e-bike, motorized scooter or similar device. Unsafe or reckless riding on district property may result in students losing the privilege of bringing these devices onto campus.
We want everyone to have a fun, safe evening celebrating our Bulldogs and a great school year. Thank you for helping us make that happen, and we’ll see you tonight!
