Kearney School District’s Great Schools = Great Community initiative is bringing students, staff, families and community members together to help shape the future of our schools. Through open conversations, starting in September 2026, about learning, facilities, finances and long-term priorities, KSD is working to build shared understanding and make thoughtful decisions that support students and strengthen our community. Visit the Great Schools = Great Community page to learn more, explore the information being shared and find opportunities to participate. Join us for these important conversations during the following sessions:

  • Friday, Sept. 11 – 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. at Dogwood Elementary
  • Tuesday, Sept. 15 – 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the KSD Central Office
  • Wednesday, Sept. 16 – 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Kearney Senior Center
  • Wednesday, Sept. 16 – 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Kearney High School
  • Thursday, Sept. 17 – 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Kearney Middle School

Our Programs

We offer a wide variety of programs designed to help students prepare for their future careers.

Early Childhood Special Education

The Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) program is for children ages 3-5 with developmental delays who have been evaluated and determined to require specialized instruction and/or related services.

Integrated Peers

Each of our blended learning classrooms is composed of both children receiving special education services and typically-developing peers who serve as friends and models of age-appropriate skills.

5-Day Pre-K

This program is available to children the year prior to Kindergarten age eligibility who meet state criteria and/or financial guidelines based on the National School Lunch Program, as capacity allows.

Parents as Teachers (PAT)

Parents as Teachers is a home-based early childhood program that provides education to parents/guardians from pregnancy through Kindergarten entry.

Puppy Pound

Puppy Pound is a reduced-cost childcare option for children of KSD employees from birth to Kindergarten entry.
