Little Bulldogs Get Big Lessons on Fire Safety
Kearney Fire Department crew members visited the Kearney Early Education Center on Thursday, Nov. 13, to both have some fun with students and share important information about fire safety. The program included an appearance by KFD's fire dog, Patches. The firefighters talked to the students about calling 911 whenever there is an emergency, having a family evacuation plan in case of a fire, and why they should never play with matches, lighters or candles. One of the crew members donned his firefighting gear while another talked about each piece of equipment. The students practiced their "Stop, Drop & Roll" response to a fire, and then got to get up close to a department pumper truck and ambulance. Kearney School District is grateful for everything that our KFD partners do to help keep our community safe 24-7!
